The Department of Energy (DOE) is keeping the green energy development party going as they announced $155 million being awarded under the Energy Recovery and Reinvestment Act for 41 industrial energy efficiency projects in the U.S. In a separate award, Alaska, Kansas, Utah, and West Virginia received over $9.5 million each to support their energy efficiency and conservation activities. The combined award of the 4 states totaled over $38 million with the majority of the money to be used on small cities and counties. Of the $155 million being awarded by the DOE, $150 million is going to 9 projects that will employ the use of combined heat and power, district energy systems, waste energy recovery systems, and energy efficiency initiatives.
