Redmond, WA-based Smilebox has acquired Preclick, a New Jersey maker of photo organizing and printing software that white-labels to retailers like WalMart, Costco, and Walgreens. Financial terms were not disclosed. Smilebox is used to create electronic greeting cards, photo albums, and slideshows. The deal for Smilebox seems mostly inspired by its rapid ability to jump on Preclick's distribution channel so that it can get in Front of Costco.com shoppers too sell custom greeting cards in time for the Christmas season. Preclick competes with other free photo programs like Google's Picasa.
