Amazon: Kindle sales up 177 percent year over year

Amazon announced its quarterly at the end of the trading day on Tuesday.  Though it missed its revenue expectations, the electronics retailer had a banner quarter for Kindle devices. Amazon didn’t release exact sales figures but Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement, “We are grateful to the millions of customers who purchased the Kindle Fire and Kindle e-reader devices this holiday season, making Kindle our bestselling product across both the U.S. and Europe” The statement also said that Amazon’s Kindle sales, which include the Android-powered Kindle Fire, increased 177 percent year over year.
