Contrary to popular belief, it isn't easy to build a scalable Twitter-style messaging system. Yammer takes Twitter-style messaging to the next level with private networks, true threading, message attachments, groups, search, and dozens of other improvements. We're looking for someone to help us research, build and deploy our next generation messaging system. What you'll do: * Help architect Yammer's messaging and security systems * Research and test various DHTs for scalability and performance * Contribute to open-source DHT projects * Find ways to refine our Postgres database schema to help us grow * Get involved in relevant communities * Investigate possible new search options * Argue about the right way to do things * Take ownership and help test, release and maintain the code you write * Research new technologies that will help Yammer continue to stay at the lead of the private microblogging race What we use: * Ruby on Rails * Apache + Passenger * PostgreSQL * XMPP (ejabberd) * Message queues (Starling and RabbitMQ) * PostgreSQL Full Text Search Engine * Git If you love to learn new technologies and love programming, but hate bosses that do not understand what you do or why it is important to do things the right way, then you may be right for Yammer.
