Google’s music search gets exclusive songs

Just in case Lala and MySpace’s partnership with Google isn’t doing enough to boost the music services, the company is announcing that quite a few musicians and record labels are offering exclusive content through Google’s new music search to promote the new feature.

Under the partnership, which was revealed last week, when you search for musicians or songs on Google, the top results will link to tracks from Lala, MySpace, and other music services. Now, you wouldn’t think this kind of feature needs to be promoted — do people need to be convinced to search for their favorite bands on Google? But seeing free downloads and songs they can’t get anywhere else should convince users to click on those new search results. Full story...
